I originally hoisted this misshapen, stitched-together corpus into the dark and stormy blogosphere like Dr. Frankenstein (the movie one, I’ve regrettably never tackled the Shelley) in 2011, and as yet it remains unstrucken by lightning. I envisioned birthing the guilt-haunted, drawling love child of Flannery O’Connor and Philip K. Dick, and while the result falls short of that mark, I am still compelled to tie a bonnet on its downy head and stroll it out into daylight.
